LoL's Void Champions

1. Cho'Gath

The Terror of the Void is the first void champion, released during LoL’s beta stage. This hulking monstrosity has been on a rampage throughout Runeterra, seeking to consume all life. The fact that he can grow stronger and tougher by doing so, or expel the bits not needed as skewering projectiles, makes him all the more dangerous. | © Riot Games

2. Kassadin

One of the Void’s most implacable enemies, Kassadin was once a famous adventurer before settling and raising a family among the nomads of Shurima. However, after a rift to the void claimed his wife and daughter, he has been on a mission to find them and stop the Void from spreading - even as the arcane relics he uses slowly doom him. | © Riot Games

3. Malzahar

Once a man who sought to connect with and help others, Malzahar’s journey left him to Icathia. He emerged a changed man and a prophet of oblivion. He has sacrificed entire cities to the Void and goaded some of its champions to Runeterra. His psychic power makes him phenomenally dangerous to both the body and mind of his enemies.| © Riot Games

4. Kog'Maw

A relatively small and repulsive creature, Kog’Maw is curious rather than malicious - but when sating his curiosity involves dissolving and devouring it, the end effect is similar. The lore indicates that it was brought to Runeterra as part of Malzahar’s machinations and is slowly pulled towards him, but it’s not clear what would happen when the two meet. | © Riot Games

5. Kha'Zix

The greatest threat that comes with many of the Void’s champions is their ability to adapt. Once a nearly mindless beast, the Voidreaver is a constantly evolving predator and slayer that grows stronger and more cunning with each kill. It seeks to become the ultimate predator. To that end, Kha'Zix knows it must kill and consume Rengar, the Vastayan master hunter. It came close once, and the two have sought each other since. | © Riot Games

6. Vel'Koz

The Void’s creatures may be monstrous, but Vel’koz shows a rare - and cruel - intelligence. For ages, it has studied the denizens of Runeterra so that it knows their strengths and weaknesses, and it can unmake any who tries to stop it. However, new lore shows it might be less than happy with Bel’Veth’s arrival. | © Riot Games

7. Rek'Sai

Rek’Sai is a bestial predator, but no less dangerous for it. The queen of her brood, she has terrorized large swathes of Shurima, tunneling under the sands to strike from below. Even armed caravans stay far away from the places she is rumored to hunt at - and every year, many still disappear to feed her hunger. | © Riot Games

8. Kai'Sa

A child claimed by the Void should be dead to rights, but Kai’Sa’s resourcefulness, strength of will and luck resulted in her not just surviving, but becoming a skilled hunter of monsters. The symbotic suit she wears leads many to see her as a monster herself, however. Many speculate that she might be Kassadin's missing daughter, and it seems the new Pinwheel short story confirms it. | © Riot Games

9. Bel'Veth

While she is not the first Voidborn to show intelligence, Bel’Veth’s ambitions and power seem to be on a vastly larger scale. The self-proclaimed Empress of the Void came into being with the destruction of the Shuriman city of the same name and has made it clear to Kai’Sa that she intends to remake the entire world. Worse, it seems that she also has Malzahar’s service - though curiously, she views the Watchers in the north as her enemies. | © Riot Games

With Bel’Veth on the horizon, the future of Runeterra looks quite grim. The Empress of the Void has plans to remake all the world into her kingdom, and she looks to have a decent shot at succeeding. This might be a good time to take stock of which League champions are affiliated with this nightmarish realm. The Voidborn are given physical shape by the Watchers. Their names are usually how the people of Shurima call them. Some of the more human champions also use names fashioned after their Shuriman nicknames, so it might be a common thing in that culture.
